Case StudiesCase Study 1A gentleman came to see me in the first week of July. He had been diagnosed with over 50 allergies to foods and environmental substances like trees, grass and the chlorine in his pool. Homeopathy works through the process of taking the case history and asking questions about what the individual is like:
All this information plus more begins to build
a picture so that a homeopathic remedy may be identified. Every remedy
has a unique profile and relates to the patient’s likes and dislikes,
dreams, emotions and fears. I appreciated the level of honesty that
was shown by this 45 year old gentleman when he revealed to me his
deepest fear was of being in a dark room, to the point where he would
often be unable to go to sleep for fear the night light would become
extinguished in the night. This man had made a commitment to deal
with his problems and so he was willing to disclose whatever he had
to in order to begin his healing. This gentleman was treated with
a homeopathic remedy, which, among other things, addressed his fear
of darkness, and his angry disposition, and within two to three months
he was able to enjoy swimming again in a chlorine pool, and play golf
again among the grass and trees with no side effects whatsoever. Case Study 2A 32-year-old woman suffering from irritable bowel syndrome, swollen glands, depression, insomnia and severe fatigue. This lady originally went to a Naturopath and was treated with acupuncture, a strict detoxification diet, colonics, vitamin and mineral supplementation and herbal mixtures in the form of teas. The Naturopath helped her tremendously over ten years, taught her a new way of eating and exercising and strengthened her body with vitamins and minerals; however, her body kept breaking down every six months or so. Her mother kept telling her that she was not getting well because the treatments she was receiving were not addressing the pain of her divorce and the deep grief over the loss of her father thorough his death. At this point she came to see me. After reviewing her history, I suggested to her that her symptoms were her body expressing its unhappiness due to an accumulation of deep grief. She was treated over three years for suppressed emotions through homeopathic remedies and Bach flower essences and she is now healed of her symptoms. She also attended a bereavement grief support group to help her work out the uncomfortable emotions felt at the loss of a parent. I strongly recommend grief counselling after the loss of a loved one. Case Study 3A sixteen-year-old young man we will refer to as Larry.A mother asked me to see her son. The mother was already on program and was progressing nicely. She told me her son was suffering from severe acne and some depressive tendencies. He was on three types of anti-depressants, which were helping him somewhat. She told me Larry had a severe fear of people, but she felt completely assured that Larry would be very comfortable with me since she knew I work at making people feel very comfortable at the clinic and she would not be staying for the appointment, but would simply drop him off, and therefore Larry could speak his own mind without fear of confidences being broken. When Larry arrived, he kept his head down and avoided eye contact with my office assistant and myself. I realized he didn’t want other people around and I asked my office assistant to leave us alone. At this point he told me his story of the way he had become more and more depressed after the divorce of his parents three years ago. He had been seeing a psychiatrist over the last year who was treating him with medication and this was helping him to socialize with people again. He had been diagnosed as suffering from obsessive-compulsive disorder and schizophrenia. After a very comprehensive consultation and iridology review, his eyes revealed to me that his mental and emotional tendencies to isolation and depression were in fact not a recent symptom but something that he was born with. I asked Larry’s permission to speak to his mother on what his eyes had revealed to me and he agreed. I called his mother and she told me that the tendency to be anti-social and emotionally unhappy had been there ever since Larry was an infant. I proceeded to ask her if there was any family history of gonorrhoea? I expected a response like, “Even if there was, I doubt that my parents or grandparents would have shared this with me”! The answer I received was, “Wow, that is amazing, my husband had gonorrhoea three years prior to Larry being born”. I explained to her that that information clarified certain things for me and I explained the theory of Miasms and how they could be treated because now we had a handle on where Larry’s emotional problems were coming from. I began his program by treating the gonorrhoea Miasm and the results have been extremely encouraging. Larry is still undergoing treatment and is beginning to embrace life, his family and happiness more and more every day. One of the most fascinating types of healing is treating infants or adolescents that were born with a specific condition; therefore we need to treat the emotional and physical symptoms of the mother or father since the fetus absorbed his or her feelings and weaknesses.
